Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abba Yusuf, and one Abdulkadir Muhammad have been taken into custody by men from the Kano State Police Command for allegedly stealing palliatives intended for state people.

In a phone interview on Sunday, Police Commissioner Hussaini Gumel informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the suspects had been apprehended at a warehouse in Sharada with more than 200 empty bags.

According to him, the suspects were purportedly repackaging the corn and grains in the Sharada warehouse.

He declared, “Since then, we have started a thorough investigation to determine how many bags of rice or maize were repackaged and sold.”

Gumel stated that following the completion of covert investigations, the two suspects would face legal charges.

On Saturday, the government of Kano State discovered a warehouse where food intended for palliative care was being misappropriated within the state.

The warehouse was located at Sharada Industrial Estate, according to a statement released by the press secretary, Malam Bature Dawakin-Tofa.

Governor Abba Yusuf and other government representatives, according to Dawakin-Tofa, were shown around the remote storehouse containing the stolen food goods and chemical drums.

The governor was shocked and swore to prosecute those responsible for the shameful act of stealing the rice and corn that were meant to be palliative foods.

He gave the commissioner of police immediate instructions to seize control of the warehouse and launch a prompt inquiry to find the guilty parties.

The event happened as a result of a tip from some Sharada locals who saw suspicious activity by unidentified people surrounding the warehouse and alerted the Sharada Police Division.

One of the Sharada community leaders, Mr. Rabiu Amour, informed Yusuf immediately upon arriving to the warehouse that thousands of bags bearing the governor’s portrait and intended for palliative care had been found to have been re-bagged.

We chose to raise the alarm because we are aware that these food products are intended to be given to less fortunate individuals.

“This is our way of supporting the governor’s wonderful efforts; he is working hard to assist the underprivileged, but some members of the system are undermining his efforts,” the governor stated.
