The Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, was fired by the Appeal Court’s decision, and the Presidency has criticised those who voiced their complaints.

The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, should bear the responsibility for Mutfwang’s dismissal from office, according to Special Advisor on Information and Strategy for President Bola Tinubu Bayo Onanuga, rather than the president or the court.

Onanuga brought up the fact that, in defiance of a court ruling, the PDP conducted primaries in Plateau State using an unauthorised caretaker committee.

The ruling of the governorship election tribunal, which had affirmed Mutfwang’s election as the state’s governor, had been overturned by the Appeal Court.

The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give a new certificate of return to Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared the victor of the gubernatorial race.

In response, Onanuga cited Zamfara State’s loss to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 due to illegitimate primaries.

“To those crying and complaining about the judgement of the Appeal Court in nullifying the Election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, they seem to have forgotten history so quickly,” Onanuga said in a post titled “The avoidable fate of Caleb Mutfwang” on X.

Due to the APC’s failure to hold legally mandated primaries in 2019, all Zamfara elected officers and members, including the governor, state legislators, and members of the National Assembly, lost their positions.

“The PDP, disregarding past mistakes, committed the same offence by holding primaries using an unauthorised caretaker committee in defiance of a court ruling.

“The PDP should be held accountable for the election defeat, not the APC, the court system, INEC, or President Tinubu.

The election of Abba Yusuf as governor of Kano was void due to his noncompliance with both the electoral law and the constitution. Individuals who are upset with the decision and blame the judiciary must to face the facts. The law was the reason Yusuf was fired. I think that everyone wants the rule of law to govern our nation.
