Peter Obi’s campaign director Doyin Okupe resigns
Doyin Okupe, the Labour Party Campaign Council’s director general, has resigned from his position.
In a letter he sent to Peter Obi on Tuesday, he told him the news. Obi is running for president of the LP.
Okupe shared the letter on his official Twitter account and stated, “It’s time to retire. But until God grants us victory in the name of Jesus, I will stand with PO, the Obidients, and the Presidential Campaign.
Monday, a Federal High Court in Abuja found Okupe guilty of breaking the Money Laundering Act. He then gave up his job.
The leader of the Labour Party, who had formerly belonged to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was subsequently given a two and a half year prison term.
The sitting judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, offered Okupe an alternative of a N500,000 fine on each of the 26 counts of allegations, amounting to a total of N13 million for which he was found guilty.
