Peter Obi pledges financial assistance to victims of the attack during his visit to Plateau
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, paid a visit to internally displaced persons in Bokkos and Barkin-ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
Accompanied by party officials from the state, Obi made a generous pledge of 5 million naira to each local government area to support the displaced individuals seeking refuge there. During his visit, he expressed his deep concern and condemnation for the attacks that resulted in the loss of lives and property.
Obi emphasized the importance of the government fulfilling its responsibility to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
Additionally, he highlighted the alarming number of Nigerians who have been forced to seek refuge within their own country, deeming it an unacceptable situation that requires immediate attention from the government.
The attacks on Christmas Eve by armed men in over 15 communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi resulted in the tragic deaths of more than 190 people. The attackers also set houses on fire, looted farm produce, and destroyed properties, leaving the residents in a state of terror. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for this horrific attack.
