Peter Obi Is Still My Brother Despite Our Political Differences, Soludo
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo referred to former Anambra Governor and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi as his brother and claimed that their conflicts were “fundamentally political.”
Obi ruled Anambra State as a member of Soludo’s All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from 2006 until 2014. He joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014, ran as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in 2019, and on May 30 in Asaba, Delta State, won the LP’s presidential nomination.
Ten days had passed since Soludo’s blistering opinion article on Obi, in which he claimed that his predecessor had exploited his presidential campaign as a means of playing a game he was reportedly unable to win.
The two Anambra political heavyweights were photographed holding hands on Thursday at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka for the Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor’s 70th Birthday Thanksgiving ceremony.
According to a statement made by Soludo’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, when Soludo got to the church, he went straight to Obi and gave him a bear embrace as shocked onlookers looked on.
Soludo announced that he will meet with Obi shortly to settle their concerns.
“Today is an extremely unique day. It was my brother Peter Obi and I’s first time meeting in a public event and at the Catholic Church that the two of us attend when we entered the service. The governor remarked, “I think that was divine.
“Let me tell you, just last night, we chatted twice. Brothers, we are. You are aware that I do not belong to the group of politicians who use both sides of their mouths. I can’t play along. I want to create heaven in addition to becoming a politician. I’ll continue to speak the truth.
“There is no personal divide between Obi and myself.
Nobody stole the wives from one another. Fundamental political disagreements are the source of what appears to be our division.
Nothing more
The governor further denied claims that he accepted a $28 million bribe in order to harm the LP presidential contender.
“I asked them to bring it so I may use it to build roads for people who are forging blackmail and all that, including the one they said I received a bribe to say what I said. If Soludo were a big briber, I would be worth many trillions of dollars by now.
“We will meet in the coming weeks to discuss our basic disagreements.
We’ve decided to talk things over and work out our disagreements.
We must complete it. We are all for Anambra.
Soludo expressed gratitude to God for the celebrant’s life while also recognizing the cleric’s significant effect on him and his administration.
“When you visited my village home in 2019 and chose not to drink the foreign wine that was provided to you in place of palm wine, you caused me to rethink my mind. The highest wine now offered at the Governor’s lodge is palm wine, he noted.
“The modest kind of automobile you drove to my residence really humbled me. You informed me that you made the decision not to go in a car that was significantly more expensive than the norm for the people you are leading. I consider this to be excellent.
You may see some of the inspiration I drew from you when you see me driving Innoson vehicles. I would have been riding my bicycle to work if it weren’t for security.
“Since it cost us more than N137m to clean offices when we first arrived, we are going above the degree of caution you instructed us. It now only costs about N11m. I can only pledge to spread the word worldwide.
