Ahead of the upcoming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State, has emphasized the importance of returning the chairmanship of the party to the North Central region.
Suswam, who is also a former Senator, highlighted that a member from the North Central should complete the tenure of the former PDP chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as stated in Article 47 sub 6 of the PDP constitution.
Ayu was removed from his position in March 2023 following the leadership crisis within the party.
Suswam’s view is supported by the party’s constitution, and he believes that addressing the outstanding issues and appointing a replacement from the North Central region is necessary to restore stability within the party.
