Akawor thanked President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and the PDP for giving him the chance to lead.
“After consulting with my leaders and family, I have accepted this opportunity to serve our country, which I consider a national service,” the letter said in part.
As a result, I have resigned from my role as the Chairman of the Rivers State Party of our wonderful party, the PDP, and I have turned over all responsibility to the Deputy Party Chairman, Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka, who has already taken action in this regard.
“I am appreciative that I had the chance to lead the PDP at the state level from 2020 to 2023, and I am especially appreciative of your and the national body’s support throughout my time.
“My family and I are incredibly appreciative to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his thoughtfulness and for deeming me deserving of this position.”
