Oyo, Osun, and Ondo witnessed 604 deaths and 1,196 road crashes in 2023- FRSC

According to the Federal Road Safety Commission’s Zonal Command, 1196 traffic crashes in the states of Osun, Oyo, and Ondo resulted in 604 documented fatalities between January and December 2023.

During a Friday conversation with journalists in Osogbo, Meshach Jatau, the FRSC Zonal Commander in charge of Osun, Oyo, and Ondo States, disclosed this information.

3,266 additional persons were injured in traffic accidents in the three states during that time, according to Jatau.

During the course of the 12-month period under evaluation, 3,963 people were saved from 7,833 total traffic accidents.

Jatau revealed that the Command was able to stop 72,388 motorists in 2023 for a variety of infractions of traffic laws and regulations during the period under review.

“We educated roughly 40,338 motorists during the 12-month period under review, and we were able to apprehend 72,388 motorists in 2023.”

Additionally, he gave his word that the Corps would not abdicate its duty to maintain the safety of the highways.

“The FRSC in the zone will not abdicate its responsibilities by making certain that safer driving practices result in nationwide highways.”

The head of the FRSC ordered corps members to carry out their responsibilities professionally so as to avoid creating a security hazard on the highways.

“To ensure safety on highways, the corps will persist in its strategic planning with transportation stakeholders,” he declared in closing.
