Osun guber : Oyetola, APC close case
After the National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, delivered Governor Ademola Adeleke’s certificate before the panel, former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday concluded their case before the Election Petition Tribunal.
Oyetola is contesting Governor Adeleke’s win in the state’s gubernatorial election on July 16 on the grounds that there were anomalies throughout the voting process.
The tribunal, presided over by Justice Tertse Kume, requested that INEC furnish it with a clearer copy of Adeleke’s certificate during its session on December 1 after receiving blurry copies during the hearings.
The panel was informed by Henry Akunebo, SAN, counsel for INEC, at the panel’s resumed meeting on Saturday that the subpoena witness was present in court with the original copy of form CF001 and the papers attached thereto.
Later, the petitioners’ attorney, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, was called upon to submit the papers, and INEC official Joan Arabs did so. He confirmed that they were readable.
Additionally, N. Oke, SAN, the legal representative for PDP, Niyi Owolade, and Adeleke, confirmed that the papers are readable.
Fagbemi then attempted to submit the documents as an exhibit, but the respondents’ attorneys raised an objection to their admittance, claiming that everything save the two pages that were allegedly not readable could not be admitted.
