By launching Operation Crush and giving 20 Toyota vans to various security agencies in the state, the Abia State Government has taken a brave move against criminal groups operating in some sections of the state.
As he handed the cars over to the security forces, Governor Otti said that no part of Abia would be given over to criminals and issued a warning that his administration would not engage in negotiations with them.
Otti reiterated that Operation smash will be a coordinated security watch involving many security agencies. Otti instructed security services to detect and smash offenders harming the tranquilly of the state.
The governor declared that similar assaults would not be accepted in the State after two policemen were slain during a recent attack against his Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industry, Chimezie Ukaegbu.
He stated that Operation Crush will respond to security alarms from anywhere in the state and that anyone discovered harbouring criminals would be apprehended and prosecuted.
Commodore Macdonald Uba (retd), the special adviser to the governor of Abia State on security, stated earlier that the effort sought to eradicate crime throughout the entire State.
He pointed out that the government’s decision to conduct an offensive against hoodlums was inspired by the rising number of kidnapping, robberies, and other criminal acts in various sections of Abia.
They pledged to use the new patrol cars in the state’s fight against crime and added that the new addition will provide the best possible support for the safety of people and property.
Men from the Nigerian Army and other security organisations drove the new cars around Umuahia town.
