Following the detention of Frederick Nwajagu, the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo declared that the Igbo would not leave Lagos State for anyone or any cause.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, stated in a statement to commemorate Easter 2023 that despite planned attacks on Igbos in Lagos State, there should be no cause for alarm among Igbos.

Isiguzoro states: “In the spirit of this Pascaltide, Ohanaeze Ndigbo felicitates with Ndigbo throughout the world, wishing all the peace that comes with Christ’s joyful resurrection through the power of the risen Messiah.

“He that is with us is greater than He that is against us, thus we exhort Ndigbo to “fear not.” Long after the elections, during this period of Igbophobic attacks in Lagos, Ndigbo shall not leave Lagos for anyone or any reason, regardless of the number of threats of attacks and additional arson, including the threat to seize/confiscate their homes from the Lagos traditional stool, especially by those who should protect them.

In accordance with the Igbo proverb, “We must continue to be strong, vigilant, and determined,”

Well, anagh, eri ihe onye m anya.

In accordance with Igbo ethos, particularly “Onye aghala nwanne ya,” we urge Ndigbo in Lagos to be their brother’s keeper by not abandoning the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, whose only offense was to speak “hoo!haa!” by expressing the frustrations his Igbo kith and kin were passing through in Lagos with their lives and businesses under constant and well-planned terrorist attacks.

“How can our Igbo SANs, attorneys, and activists, particularly the Olisa Agbakobas, be peaceful while the man who carried their cross unlawfully remains in custody without being freed or brought before a court?”
