The media group affiliated with Philip Shaibu’s office as the deputy governor has been disbanded by the Edo State Government.

Shaibu was also instructed by Governor Godwin Obaseki to go forth and ask the Ministry of Communication and Orientation for media coverage of his activities.

In a statement released on Monday by Chris Osa Nehikhare, the Commissioner for Information, Obaseki made this claim.

“This directive came as a result of the unfortunate incident that occurred during the colloquium held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Midwest Referendum, where some journalists attempted to trespass into the room where the Governor and other dignitaries were already seated while posing as members of the Deputy Governor’s media team.

“This behaviour violated the accreditation guidelines imposed for the event coverage.

“The stage-managed and orchestrated walkout and disruption is highly regrettable,” he remarked.
