In preparation for the Eid-El-Kabir celebration, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will have increased security thanks to the deployment of 5,112 personnel by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

This is said in a statement made on Thursday in Abuja and signed by Mr. Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the Federal Capital Territory.

Afolabi claims that Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the NSCDC Commandant in the Federal Capital Territory, has given officers and soldiers of the corps instructions to make sure the six area councils within the territory are suitably guarded.

He noted that in order to guarantee a smooth celebration, special attention was paid to safeguarding vulnerable areas, soft targets, dark corners, and flashpoints where criminal activity is likely to occur.

The official declared, “To ensure maintenance of law and order, we have deployed all of our special forces, including the Armed Squad, Intelligence and Under Cover Officers, Female Strike Force, Special Crack Squad (operation Adaka-su), and Agro Rangers.”

Vandals, miscreants, and other troublemakers were cautioned by Afolabi to avoid vital infrastructure and national assets.

He declared that if someone was discovered to be at fault, the Corps would not hold back in applying the full force of the law.

He issued a warning against burning tyres on public property, claiming that doing so compromised the integrity of the pavement and was thus considered vandalism.

He called on the staff to be dedicated, watchful, quick to respond, and unwavering in their commitment to maintaining a region free from threats or security lapses.

“You must follow operational order to ensure professionalism on your part. There is no room for carelessness or overzealousness while carrying out your duties,” he stated.

He gave the locals his word that sibling agencies would continue to work together to offer sufficient security.
