NPFL: Enyimba and Abia Warriors survive the threat from Kano Pillars and Akwa United

Fans of the Aba-based Enyimba Football Club and the Umuahia-based Abia Warriors Football Club have praised their clubs for their valiant victory over Akwa United and Kano Pillars, respectively.

On the same day that Enyimba upset Akwa United of Akwa Ibom 3-2 in Aba, Abia Warriors FC defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 in Umuahia.

Enyimba scored at Aba in the 13th, 15th, and 67th minutes, while Akwa United scored in the 64th and shortly before halftime.

The People’s Elephants won the game 3-2 by maintaining their one-goal advantage, nevertheless.

In Umuahia, Sunday Megwo’s goal in the game’s 31st minute allowed Abia Warriors to break through the Kano Pillars’ formidable defence.

Ikechuckwu Emetu, the deputy governor of Abia State, Emmanuel Emeruwa, the speaker of the state assembly, John Obuh, the club chairman, and numerous other prominent supporters watched the game in Umuahia.

After the game, Obuh thanked the club’s fans for their encouragement of his team.

He gave the Abia Warriors players additional praise for securing the three points.

Following the outcome on Sunday night, Abia Warriors are presently third in the Nigeria Premier Football League standings with 6 points after 3 games and 1 loss.

Bendel Insurance and Enugu Rangers, who both have 6 points, are in front of the Umuahia-based squad despite Insurance having played just two games.

Enyimba supporters in Aba were also enjoying themselves after their club defeated formidable rivals Akwa United 3-2.

The new Enyimba, Abia Warriors, and Abia Comets board members, who were chosen by Governor Alex Otti, will be sworn in on Tuesday at the Ministry of Sports in Umuahia.
