Nnamdi Kanu: Malami is charged by IPOB with attempting to undermine the criminal justice system

The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was accused of seeking to undermine Nigeria’s court and criminal justice system by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Sunday.

The statement was made by IPOB while highlighting how “filing dead charges” against Kanu was an insult to the court ruling releasing Kanu.

Remember that Kanu was facing an amended seven-count charge from the federal government?

IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful condemned the action and charged Malami of demeaning the legal system.

According to Powerful, presenting additional charges after an Appeal Court’s judgement is an insult to the court’s decision.

We, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU, denounce the alleged new revised charge brought by Malami and his associates against our unflappable Kanu, even after the Court of Appeal has cleared and exonerated him of all criminal claims.

This proves beyond a doubt that Malami is a quota-based SAN with no experience or connections to the legal sector.

“Our Simple understanding and information is that the court’s decision is an issue for Malami and the APC Government, which explains why, during Malami’s tenure as the Federation’s chief legal officer, he has been listed among the most corrupt legal officers and his Ministry is in disarray,”

Kanu had been cleared of all allegations against him related to terrorism by the Abuja Appeal Court.

The Nigerian government refused to release the IPOB leader in spite of the court’s injunction.

Kanu has been imprisoned since his arrest in Kenya and subsequent repatriation to Nigeria last year.

The Nigerian government had re-arrested him after his arrest and brought him before an Abuja Federal High Court.
