NiMet forecasts 3-day cloudiness and sunlight beginning on Friday

From Friday to Sunday, there will be clouds and sunshine nationwide, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The weather outlook from NiMet, which was announced on Thursday in Abuja, predicts cloudy skies on Friday with periods of sunlight over the northern region and the possibility of thunderstorms in the morning over some areas of the states of Kebbi, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna.

Over portions of the states of Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, and Sokoto, thunderstorms are expected later in the day.

Cloudy skies are forecast for the North Central area, with sporadic thunderstorms expected in the early morning hours over sections of Niger, Kwara, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Niger, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, and Nasarawa states are all anticipated to see thunderstorms later in the day, according to the report.

NiMet predicts an overcast atmosphere over the South, with the possibility of thunderstorms and showers in the morning hours across portions of the states of Edo, Imo, Ondo, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Anambra.

A few isolated thunderstorms and raindrops were expected later in the day over parts of the states of Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Delta, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa.

NiMet predicted cloudy skies and periods of sunshine on Saturday with the possibility of squally thunderstorms and strong winds in the morning hours over parts of the states of Kano, Katsina, Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, and Kebbi.

According to it, there is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms over portions of the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Sokoto, and Zamfara in the late afternoon and evening.

“Cloudy skies with a chance of squally thunderstorms and strong winds are expected over sections of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kwara, and Kogi States in the morning hours.

Over portions of the Plateau, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Benue, and Nasarawa States, sporadic thunderstorms are anticipated in the late afternoon and early evening.

According to the forecast, “cloudy skies are expected over the inland states of the South and its coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms and rain over portions of Edo, Ondo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos and Delta States in the morning hours.”

Anambra, Ogun, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states were all expected to see thunderstorms later in the day, according to the agency.

On Sunday, NiMet predicted cloudy skies with brief periods of sunlight over the northern region in the morning hours and the possibility of thunderstorms over some areas of the states of Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba in the afternoon and evening hours.

In the morning, it was expected that there would be clouds over the North Central region, and in the afternoon and evening, there would be thunderstorms across some of the Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau.

“Over the southern region, cloudy skies are anticipated, with the possibility of rain in some areas of the states of Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

“Thunderstorms and rain are anticipated over portions of the states of Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa later in the day.

Flash floods could occur as a result of moderate to severe rain. The general public is urged to use the appropriate caution, refrain from driving through floodwaters, and avoid walking through them while on foot, it stated.

NiMet states that strong winds are anticipated to come before and after thunderstorms, therefore residents are urged to take the required safety measures.

In order to prevent the loss of lives and property during the rainy season, the agency recommended disaster risk managers, agencies, and individuals to be proactive.
