Upon receiving a fashionable watch worth up to £300,000 for his birthday, a music manager who was of Nigerian descent was fatally stabbed, according to testimony given in court in London.
According to evidence presented at the Old Bailey, three thieves attacked Emmanuel Odunlami, 32, as he left the Haz restaurant in the City of London near St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 1, 2022.
According to Kavindu Hettiarachchi, a security operator, Odunlami was wearing a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch, which, if authentic, would be worth between £90,000 and £300,000 to them.
Hettiarachchi, according to prosecutor Duncan Atkinson KC, was an essential part of the security crew that Playhxuse, the organisation behind the event, recruited for the exclusive ticketed brunch and after-party with DJ.
He had a responsibility to ensure that others who were attending the event, like Odunlami, were safe. The court was informed that he actually did the opposite.
On the day of his death, the deceased, who went by the name Jay, had bought tickets for a $1,400 table and had travelled to the city in his grey Mercedes hatchback to celebrate his birthday with pals.
Hettiarachchi was seen on video recording the outside of the venue as the celebration drew to a close about 11 p.m., according to Dailymail, and making a call to Louis Vandrose.
According to testimony given in court, Quincy French afterwards drove Vandrose and Jordell Menzies in a white Mercedes from north-west London with tampered licence plates.
The prosecutor stated: “The evidence establishes that Vandrose, Menzies, and Ffrench were going off in a car with a disguised registration in order to carry out a robbery, and their aim was at the Haz restaurant where Hettiarachchi was working, to which he had summoned them by phone.
