Cross River Gov Announces New Civil Service Recruitment

The Nigerian government has announced a new recruitment drive in the civil service, opening up opportunities for job seekers.

An important event has occurred as Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River, situated in the southern region of the country, declared an official termination to a 25-year prohibition on employment within the state’s civil service. Consequently, new hiring opportunities will now be available.

Erasmus Ekpang, the Information Commissioner revealed that in 1999 there was a major employment drive. Currently, they plan to hire 2,000 individuals during the first phase of their upcoming recruitment exercise.

The commissioner disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Calabar that the recruitment process will include all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and start without delay.

Ekpang observed that the recruitment process of new personnel by the past administration was blemished with irregularities, which have been tackled by the present government.

Due to the significant reduction in the state’s civil service, this recruitment endeavor is both crucial and opportune.

Ekpang suggested that the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage would be reviewed at a later time when questioned about it.

Governor Otu expressed appreciation for the Cross River community’s composure during national demonstrations against financial struggles in a distinct occurrence. He specifically commended the young people for upholding order within the state.
