Nigerian Chef Beats Indian Competitor and Sets New Guinness World Cooking Record
Baci has been preparing food for 88 hours and 32 minutes as of Monday morning at 8:32.
The longest cooking period by an individual was previously held by Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, who accomplished a record-breaking accomplishment on Monday.
Baci has cooked for 88 hours and 32 minutes as of 8:32 AM on Monday, breaking Lata Tondon’s previous record, which she accomplished in 2019. Cooking for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 0 seconds was the previous record holder.
At the Amore Gardens, Baci began her four-day cooking challenge on May 11.
To extend the record, the 27-year-old will continue to cook until the 96th hour.
Speaking of her motivation for taking on the challenge, Baci said it was one of her major goals and a chance to share some uplifting tales from Africa through the food we eat.
“Five years ago was the beginning of the cook-a-thon journey. It is one of my top goals, and I’m happy I made the audacious decision to go on this adventure. I took the necessary time to mentally get ready for this, and I’m proud to finally accept this challenge.
Through the meals we prepare for the cook-a-thon, we can also share some of the inspiring tales from Africa.
This endeavor serves as evidence of the resilience that young people can demonstrate given the proper environment and assistance. To accomplish this, I anticipate support from individuals all across the world, she stated.
Nigerians are still rallying behind her on social media and at the cook-a-thon location, Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State, because her desire to make history has created such a stir among the population.
The chef has already received numerous congratulations.
Numerous celebrities have backed Baci in her endeavors and praised her tenacity and courage, including the President-Elect Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, and Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
Sanwo-Olu visited the cook on Sunday at the Amore Gardens in the state’s Lekki district and cheered her up. Bolaji Idowu, the senior pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre Lagos, as well as actor Charles Okocha and others, paid the cook a visit.
