Niger Police Apprehend Three for Thuggery and Illegal Arms Possession

Three individuals have been apprehended by the Niger State Police Command on charges of engaging in thuggery and possessing illegal firearms.

The state’s police commissioner, Shawulu Dan-Mamman, made this announcement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Wednesday.

Dan-Mamman revealed that the suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons and a quantity of suspicious substances believed to be Indian hemp.

The arrest took place in Maitumbi, Minna, around 1:00 a.m. on April 30, following a distress call. The raid was conducted by the DPO of Maitumbi Division, in collaboration with vigilante members.

The police commissioner commended the swift response of the patrol team from Operation Flush, who promptly apprehended the suspects.

He emphasized that these individuals were notorious for engaging in thuggery and using dangerous weapons to intimidate the local residents.

The suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. Additionally, efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals who may have been involved in these criminal activities.

Dan-Mamman took the opportunity to urge parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and advise them against participating in criminal acts that would result in legal consequences.

It is crucial to prevent young individuals from becoming involved in activities that could potentially harm themselves and others, and to guide them towards a more positive path in life.
