Next up is the Supreme Court; Aisha Yesufu outlines when Obi will make his campaign account public
The statement of account for the campaign will be made public when the Supreme Court resolves the appeal filed by Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, according to Aisha Yesufu, one of the signatories to the Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign Organisation for the February 25 poll.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Presidential Election appeal Tribunal dismissed the appeal brought by Obi, Atiku Abubakar, his PDP rival, and their parties on Wednesday because it lacked merit.
Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was elected president, and the court unanimously supported that decision.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, the tribunal’s chairman, and the other four panellists gave their verdicts on the petitions.
Since then, the Labour Party has contested the tribunal’s verdict and threatened to take the case to the Supreme Court.
The Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign is still involved in the February election, according to Aisha Yesufu, who commented on the verdict in a post on her verified X account.
She claims that the party may only release the statement of account for the campaign once the election has been completed.
“Next is Supreme Court ruling and then election would be properly tallied and the statement of account of Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign Account can be made public by the Presidential candidate,” she said. While many people have finished their elections, the Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign has not.
“This is my second time serving as one of the signatories on a campaign account. In 2018/2019, I was one. We made our account public as soon as we ended the campaign since we were finished. We need to take action again in order for the account to be made public.
