The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun, declared a break in court while she was “studying the file.”

Seun Kuti, an Afrobeat singer, was previously surreptitiously arraigned before the Yaba Magistrate Court without the knowledge of his attorneys. The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State command has now sought the court for a remand order to keep him detained for 21 days.

The assaulted policeman, according to the police prosecutors, was allegedly in a coma and undergoing treatment at an unidentified facility, according to information obtained by Obasanjo News24.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun, announced that the court was now adjourned while she was “studying the file.”

“The Chief Magistrate Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun Magistrate Court 1 Yaba took statement from the Nigerian police applying to detain Seun Kuti for 21 days, claiming the policeman he allegedly assaulted is in a coma at an undisclosed hospital,” a witness at the court stated.Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, Kuti’s attorney, disagreed, arguing that the police had previously made it known in public that the officer had followed Seun and gone to his residence, where he accepted N12,000 to fix his car. It also came to light that the DCP in Panti had earlier spoken with the magistrate before surreptitiously transporting Seun to court without informing his attorney.
“They also claimed that Seun had not written a statement, but Olumide-Fusika refuted this by claiming that he had been there when Seun had done so. In order to “study the file,” the Chief Magistrate decided to take a break.
As was previously stated, the Magistrate Court convened at 12 p.m., but Seun Kuti and his attorneys had already arrived because they were aware of the police’s covert arraignment.
“Without informing Seun Kuti’s attorneys, the police brought him to the Yaba Magistrate Court for arraignment. Seun and his attorneys are already in court when the magistrate begins to meet at noon, a source had previously stated.
According to earlier reports, Kuti informed the police officers in Yaba, Lagos State, that he would refrain from making any statements because Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, had already completed his inquiry and released the same information to the media.
In a statement on Tuesday morning, Kuti said that he will “at the right time and place” defend himself against Hundeyin’s published “investigative findings.” He was responding through his attorney, Olumide-Fusika, SAN.
Seun Kuti was denied bail on Monday night, according to a report from the Lagos State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, after a failed attempt to coerce him into making a statement that would implicate him in a case of alleged assault on a police officer.
Obasanjo News24 had learned that the musician’s lawyer had asked the police to release him on bail, but the request had been denied on the grounds that the investigation hadn’t been fully completed.
Seun Kuti, the son of the legendary Afrobeat musician Fela Kuti, was handcuffed and jailed on Monday after visiting the state police headquarters.
The musician, as was previously reported, honored his promise to work with the police by turning himself in on Monday to assist with the investigation into the claim that he assaulted a police officer as seen in a popular video.
However, the police apprehended him, handcuffed him, and took him to SCIID, Panti for questioning.
Additionally, it had been stated that Seun Kuti was taunted and mocked as he passed by by hundreds of police officers during his visit with his lawyer, Olumide-Fusika.
