The state’s local government election on December 2, 2023, saw the election of the new council chairmen.

The Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, spoke on behalf of Oyebanji, the new council bosses. The governor commended the outgoing chairmen and those who were reelected for exhibiting sufficient political and administrative skills to perform, despite the numerous difficulties that come with being trailblazers.

The governor, who declared that corruption and the embezzlement of council funds would not be tolerated, asked them to carry out their duties with the utmost “honesty, impartiality, even-handedness, compassion and fairness,” stressing that they must work diligently to see his administration’s slogan of “shared prosperity” come to pass.
