Ivan Omhonrina, age 2, was killed last week in Okpanam, Delta State, during a search by agents of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). President Bola Tinubu has commissioned an investigation into the incident.

In a statement on Saturday, Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, underlined that Tinubu had given the NDLEA management instructions to swiftly wrap up the inquiry.

Ivan did not merit that kind of death. Tinubu was cited as adding, “We must make sure the situation didn’t end like way and that what happened to Ivan doesn’t happen to anyone else again.
