According to the police in Ogun State, some people intend to disturb the calm by unfairly taking advantage of the country’s continuing shortage of currency and petrol.
According to the Ogun police command, the perpetrators of the mayhem may target banks and other public and private institutions in the State in their attacks.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, thanked the state’s citizens for their fortitude and docile behaviour in the face of the acute economic hardships and assured them of the command’s determination to protect people and property.
The CP spoke at a police and other security forces’ Saturday confidence-building patrol, according to a statement from Ogun police spokeswoman Abimbola Oyeyemi.

Oyeyemi added, “The CP further highlighted that intelligence at the Command’s disposal shows that some criminal elements are planning to use the difficult economic situation in order to disturb the calm being enjoyed in the State.”
He claimed that the CP issued a warning that the police would not stand by while criminals used any cover to “unleash mayhem on residents, private and public property, and critical national infrastructure,” including banks and the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he said.
In order to protect the populace, Mba stated that the required security infrastructure had been put in place, and that Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) had been instructed to detain anyone or any group attempting to stir up unrest or disturb the quiet in the State.
The CP expressed empathy for the locals and urged parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to persuade their kids, wards, and followers to abstain from all acts of violence, stating that all essential measures are being done to further soothe the people’s suffering in this respect.
