Adewunmi Samuel Sofomade, the leader of the music band based in Abuja, was kidnapped while traveling on the Lokoja highway.

Along with his crew, they were returning from a show in Kogi State when the abduction took place. Fortunately, after a few days in captivity, the 13-man group was eventually released. In a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, the band leader, also known as Omoba De Jombo Beats, shared the details of their ordeal.

He revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N10 million from each member of the band. However, after negotiations, the amount was reduced to N7 million per person.

The band members spent six days in a dense forest, where time seemed to stretch endlessly due to the challenging circumstances they faced. Eventually, they managed to gather the required amount of money, although it was a struggle during the December period.

The kidnappers initially agreed to accept the ransom in dollars, but their leader later insisted on being paid in naira.
