He added that when his father tried to dissuade him from becoming a musician, he rebelled because the father had previously dashed his hopes of being a great artist.

Spyro said in a recent Tea With Tay podcast episode that, in spite of having parents, he turned to mundane occupations like selling recharge cards to pay his bills and get studio time so that he could produce music.

He stated, “My parents never encouraged me to pursue music because I’m a preacher. I used to be a fine artist. He discouraged me from drawing since, for whatever reason, I was a really good artist. I then began to compose music. Additionally, he sought to stop me from doing that, but I rebelled.

I’ve always had a musical inclination, even in elementary school. I sang in the choir at church. And I was excellent. Back then, every choir director complimented my skill. Back then, I was also playing the drum set. My father, however, was never into music. It was combat. However, I was aware that this was my calling from God.

“I started going to the studio to record songs after finishing my secondary studies. Even though my parents were feeding me, I had to sell recharge cards back then to make ends meet. However, I had to work hard to pay for my way of life and reserve studio time.

In 2023, Spyro gained notoriety when his song “Who Is Your Guy” became widely popular. At the 2023 Headies Awards, the remix featuring Tiwa Savage took up the Best Collaboration of the Year title.
