Alhaji Hamisu Danjibga, the state correspondent for the Voice of Nigeria (VON), was assassinated, the Zamfara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) revealed on Wednesday.
According to a statement made in Gusau by the state NUJ Secretary, Ibrahim Ahmad, the murderers of the victim put his body in a soakaway.
“Children from an Islamic School behind his house noticed a foul stench in the evening of Wednesday, September 20, 2023, and that is how his death was discovered.
The dead body was identified as Danjibga’s when the sockaway was broken, according to the statement.
According to information obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Danjibga was gone for three days before his body was discovered.
According to sources, the faceless individuals accused of killing him hiked the price after the family was first approached to pay one million naira for his release.
NAN also learned that the police had detained a suspect in the veteran journalist’s murder.
The NUJ sent its sympathies to the deceased’s family, the VON, and the whole Zamfara population.
It encouraged security organisations to fully investigate the situation and prosecute those responsible for the heinous conduct.
