The ongoing military clearance operations nationally, particularly against Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants, have been praised by the North-East Elders for Restoration (NEER), a pressure group.

The organisation expressed their appreciation in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by its president, Mallam Bello Katagum, and secretary, Alhaji Sani Sanusi.

They also affirmed their support for Gen. Christopher Musa’s nomination as Chief of Defence Staff and expressed confidence in the military’s ability to strengthen security in Nigeria under his leadership.

According to the group, under Gen. Musa’s leadership as Operation Hadin Kai’s theatre commander, the security situation in the North East region significantly improved.

They said that due to intense military operations against terrorists, the region’s displaced people started to return to their different sources of income during Musa’s rule.

The group claims that a sizable number of terrorists and their family members were seen in the area surrendering to Nigerian military personnel.

Therefore, we are not shocked that he has started to exhibit these qualities in his role as Chief of Defence Staff.

“Despite the commotion caused by terrorists and bandits, we can rest well knowing that the Nigerian Armed Forces are in capable hands.

Nigerians would eventually start to celebrate the adversaries who oppose our peaceful departure.

They claimed that Gen. Musa was meticulous, impartial, and tough on terrorists while serving as the theatre commander for Operation Hadin Kai.

The elders applauded the military for improved cooperation with other security organisations, saying it had had a good impact across the nation.

To ensure that the military’s sacrifices for peace and stability will not be in vain, they pleaded with Nigerians to continue supporting them.
