Adebowale Debo Adedayo, a well-known activist in Nigeria who goes by the name “Mr. Macaroni,” has filed a lawsuit against two members of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, who he says said things that hurt his reputation.
He said that he had instructed his attorneys to bring a case against two men named Sadiq and Qudus Akanbi after they accused him of soliciting N7 million from a diaspora organisation to promote Labour Party (LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi.
As @Qdpaper2 on Twitter noted, Akanbi tweeted in November 2022: “Wow, wow, so Macaroni was donating $7 million from diasporan supporters of Peter Obi to make an official proclamation that he will vote for him.” Elete Ponmo, a poor and hungry man, is quoted as saying, “Hey God, Dem don’t give shishi.”(sic)
Along with Sadiq, Macaroni was determined to sue him because he perceived this as an assault on his reputation.
A tweet that Macaroni posted on his Twitter account said that the second respondent had already received his writ of summons.
Qudus tweeted: “Dear Macaroni, you have blocked me, and I have blocked you too.” This was in response to Macaroni’s announcement that the case had been filed in court. There’s no need for you to search for me. Since we both live in Lagos, simply let me know where your law office is, and I’ll come get it later. (sic)
But in order to properly address Qudus in the letter, the content producer required Qudus to give his entire name.
He said, “Dear Qudus, I have unblocked you,” while sending other members of the ruling party screenshots of previous tweets in which he was wrongfully accused and insulted by Akanbi.
For the letter to be addressed to you correctly, all I need is your full government name and address. Don’t put yourself under pressure to take it up, please. You can send it to my email address or DM me. As a Valentine’s Day gift, it will be brought to you.
I singled out Qudus and another Sadiq for making untrue claims out of all the folks who harass me every day. Because we couldn’t find Qudus’ address, I made this information public. As soon as we hear back from them, we’ll file a lawsuit on behalf of Sadiq.
