Mohbad’s Widow, Wunmi, Shares How She Met the Late Singer
Wunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, opens up about their first meeting and the journey they shared before his passing.
Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of Nigerian music star Mohbad, has shared how she first met her late husband.
In an emotional confession, Omowunmi revealed that their love story started 12 years ago when they were teenagers and first connected on the social media app 2Go.
Starting as friends, their bond gradually deepened and eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship.
Looking back on their journey, Omowunmi fondly recalled the deep bond they shared and revealed how their friendship became the cornerstone of their enduring love.
In a recent interview with TVC, Omowunmi shared, “I first encountered him when I was 13 on the platform 2Go, which was 12 years ago. Back then, we both had musical interests—I used to rap and he sang—so our friendship blossomed from there. We were quite young; he was just 15 at the time. He eventually asked if I’d be in a relationship with him and I accepted. Later on, we got married and welcomed a child together.”
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023. Within less than a day after his untimely death, he was laid to rest by his father, Joseph Aloba, in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
His body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy because of the controversies surrounding his death.
The autopsy results are still pending, but Joseph Aloba, the father of the deceased, has previously expressed that he would only allow the singer’s body to be reburied once these results are available. Additionally, he stated that a DNA test must be conducted on his grandson Liam to confirm his true paternity before proceeding with the burial.
