Even before the procedures started, INEC officials and youth corps members were discovered to have created result sheets yesterday. A youth corps member was apprehended with N1 million in his suitcase and a prepared result.
Dino Melaye has demanded that the Kogi State governorship election be thrown off, calling the way it was conducted “shameful.”
This was said by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) election candidate on Sunday during a press conference in Lokoja, concurrently with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) tallying of polling data.
The PDP candidate declared, “I will begin by categorically denouncing the way the elections were conducted yesterday and demanding that they be completely cancelled because that was not an election.”
It is disgraceful that the dysfunctional INEC won’t acknowledge, address, or attenuate the issues they brought about during the most recent governorship and presidential elections.
“There was no election yesterday in any of the five local governments located in Kogi State’s central senatorial district. Remarkably, the BVAS was not utilised; accreditation was completed by hand. Evidence of prepared sheets appeared in the media long before accreditation took place.

Thus, INEC ought to call off the election immediately. My agents were informed that there were no result sheets accessible in numerous regions where I won, and we have proof to support these assertions.
It is disheartening that this is where our democracy has come to as I address you. More than ever, INEC has shown that they are unreliable, biassed, corrupted, and incapable of serving as an impartial referee.
Even before the procedures started, INEC officials and youth corps members were discovered to have created result sheets yesterday. A youth corps member was apprehended with N1 million in his suitcase and a prepared result.
Melaye’s statement was made several hours before the Kogi governorship poll even started, when social media was flooded with results sheets.
However, the commission responded to the situation quickly and promised to look into it for Nigerians.
The commission stated on X, “Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.” “This situation is taken seriously by the Commission.”
