Mass Defection: Hundreds of Atiku Supporters Join APC, Declare Support for Tinubu

In a major political shift, hundreds of Atiku Abubakar’s supporters have defected to the APC, pledging full allegiance to President Bola Tinubu.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has gained considerable political momentum as numerous former Atiku Abubakar support groups from the 19 Northern states have officially switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling party.

The defection occurred at the A-Class Event Centre in Abuja, where coalition leaders expressed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

Senator Barau I Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, referred to the large-scale defection as a “significant gain” for the APC. He highlighted that the party equally welcomes all its members and appreciates dedication and effort.

APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, praised the action, describing it as a significant blow to the PDP.

He conveyed his belief that the ruling party’s progressive values, internal democratic practices, and dedication to effective governance would keep attracting new members.
