Samuel Erukoghene Okoro, a 38-year-old native of Delta State, has started a 1,200-kilometer bicycle trip from Damaturu, Yobe State, to Asaba in order to meet with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and express gratitude for his good deeds in the state.

Okoro comes from Orhuwhorun, in the Udu Local Government Area of Anambra State. He graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Federal Polytechnic Oko.

His trip to Yobe State began in 2015 when he was sent by the NYSC to that state. In ten days, he would travel through eight states from the north to reach Asaba.

Speaking at a press conference prior to departure, Okoro stated that he intended to finish the trip in ten days. He also mentioned that he would be riding through eight different states: Yobe, Bauchi, Plateau, Nasarawa, FCT, Kogi, Edo, and Delta; these states would be reached by the Damaturu-Potiskum-Bauchi-Jos-Lafia-Abuja-Lokoja-Asaba routes.

“I decided to embark on this 1,200-kilometer bicycle ride from Damaturu to Asaba to congratulate and appreciate my State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the good works he is doing in the state since he assumed office,” the married father of two children stated.

“With God’s blessing, I will reach Asaba in ten days. It will be an honour and a fantastic opportunity to meet with my dear Governor and express my gratitude for all that he has done for the state.

“Since Governor Oborevwori took office, we have kept tabs on everything he has done. I accomplish this by contacting sources to verify independently the information we learn from the media.

“The flag-off for the building of three flyovers, cloverleaf, pedestrian bridges, and road extension projects in the cities of Warri and Effurun, as well as the ongoing work in the Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway, particularly excite me.

“After following his MORE Agenda, I am certain that he will go above and above for the state’s citizens.

“Governor Oborevwori, who has held the position of Speaker for the longest period of time in the state’s history, is off to a great start with the legacy projects that will transform Effurun and Warri metropolis.

“I have a letter from the Delta State Forum in Yobe State that I would like to give to the Governor in addition to meeting with him to congratulate him.”

As he makes his way to Asaba, he asked everyone to join his family in praying for his safety.

In addition to projects, Governor Oborevwori had already authorised the payment of unpaid promotion arrears to employees totaling more than N5.5 billion, as well as an extra N10,000 in bonus pay each month to offset the impact of the state’s elimination of fuel subsidies on more than 50,196 workers.

Additionally, the governor gave the state’s local government councils permission to borrow N40 billion so they could pay off their retirees’ outstanding pension obligations.
