Limit on Withdrawals: I’m not accessible to brief you. Writes Reps, Emefiele
In regards to the CBN’s policy on cash withdrawal limits, the central bank’s governor, Godwin Emefiele, has once again skipped a meeting with the House of Representatives.
The CBN Governor said in a letter from the Deputy Governor of Corporate Services, Edward Adamu, that he is now on official business abroad.
He said that at a suitable time, he will speak with the House.
The governor is sorry, but he can’t brief the House of Representatives right now because he has other official business to do abroad.
“As a result, he has asked that we each express our unwillingness to accept this invitation on the new date.
The letter stated, in part, “The Governor regrets this and will get in touch with the House of Representatives as soon as he returns to the country from his official assignment.”
Remember that the lawmakers kept putting off the briefing because Mr. Emefiele was out of the country.
The House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, responded to the letter by stating that the CBN governor must explain to the House why he was gone for two weeks.
He stressed that the governor of the CBN must show up in person or send a deputy governor in his place.
