Two individuals, including a local government chairman, have been apprehended by the police authorities in connection with an alleged conspiracy to assassinate Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, the Speaker of the Benue House of Assembly.
The Force Headquarters disclosed that their investigations revealed that the chairman had purportedly engaged a militia group to carry out the assassination plot.
In response to credible intelligence, the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) promptly took action to address the planned attack.
Both suspects are currently in police custody and are actively cooperating with investigators during the ongoing inquiry.
