For the second time, Hudu Yunusa Ari, the suspended Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has avoided being charged.

The Adamawa State High Court of Justice was informed by CSP Moses Jolugbo, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), that Yunusa-Ari has gone into hiding.

The Nigerian police were ordered by the trial judge, Justice Benjamin Manji, to bring the suspended REC by November 23 at the latest, the day of adjournment.

On Wednesday, Rotimi Jacobs, the INEC’s attorney, asked the court to issue an arrest warrant for the fugitive suspended REC.

Before Justice Benjamin could reply to counsel’s appeal to INEC Rotimi Jacobs, a lawyer for Yunusa Ari, Usman Suleiman (SAN), declared his attendance. He claims that his son has given him the order to do this.

He went on to say that his client, Hudu Yunusa Ari, was in the Niger Republic and not in the country.

Judge Benjamin Manji delayed the hearing after directing the attorneys to produce Yunusa Ari within two weeks of this development.
