Lami Danladi’s election as the State Assembly’s deputy speaker has been validated by the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which is based in Makurdi, Benue State.
Justice Ory’zik Ikeorha, the panel’s chairman, delivered the verdict on Thursday and stated that the petitioners, Mrs. Agnes Uloko and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had not provided sufficient evidence to support their claims.
Ikeorha claimed that the petitioners had not provided sufficient evidence to support their claims of certificate fraud and that Danladi had not been an APC member prior to running for office.
She claimed that the petitioner’s evidence was insufficient to prove that the respondent had committed forgery.
The facts in front of the court, the court decided, demonstrated that the respondent’s certificate looked authentic.
The petition is completely dismissed, and the reliefs requested are hereby refused, she declared.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Uloko and the PDP have brought Danladi, the APC, and INEC before the tribunal to contest his victory and INEC’s announcement of it.
The petitioners claimed that the respondent lacked the necessary credentials to run in the assembly election on March 18 and that, at the time of the election, he was not an APC member.
Additionally, the petitioner requested that the respondent be declared ineligible and that she be declared the election’s victor due to falsification.
The respondent, however, refuted the petitioner’s requests by adamantly claiming that she had the necessary credentials to run for office and submitting pertinent paperwork.
She argued that the petitioners’ claims were only hearsay and threw down the gauntlet to them to back up their claims.
