Lagos man has been docked for allegedly stealing N1.1 million worth of items
Lukman Alao, 31, made an appearance in front of a magistrates’ court in Ibeju-lekki, Lagos State, on Friday. He is accused of planning to conspire with unidentified others to steal goods valued at N1,118,542.
Alao was charged by the police on two counts that involved theft and conspiracy to commit a criminal.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea.
The defendant committed the offences in the Magbon Segun neighbourhood of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, between September 20 and September 30, according to the prosecution, Sup. Friday Ekundayo, who testified in court.
According to Ekundayo, the defendant and other fugitives took 66 bags of cement worth N343,200, 22 pieces of 16mm iron rods worth N301,536 and 49 more bags of cement for N254,500.
The prosecution further stated that the defendant and his associates purposefully destroyed a CCTV camera with a memory card worth N60,000 that belonged to a man named Francis Awoyera, as well as stole 42 pieces of 10mm iron rods worth N159,301.
The prosecutor said that the offences violated sections 411 and 287 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in an equivalent amount by Magistrate Mrs. Olumide Fusika.
Fusika postponed the case’s mention until November 11. In NAN
