Ibrahim Huseini, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State’s Dekina Local Government Area, has been placed on indefinite leave.

Prior to his indefinite suspension, Huseini was charged with stealing N19 million from the party’s account and threatening other members. Additionally, he was charged with participating in anti-party activities in November 2023, the last gubernatorial election.
A letter dated January 21, 2024, in which PDP officials in Dekina LGA approved a vote of no confidence in the troubled chairman, contained the suspension of Huseini.
The beleaguered chairman was accused by the PDP Local Government Working Committee in Dekina of disobeying established party institutions and processes.
Following a vote of no confidence by the majority executive at both the local and ward levels, we, the Local Government and Ward Executives of Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State, suspended you as Party Divisional Chairman on January 15, 2024, according to the letter.
“This decision is the result of your mishandling of party funds, verbal threats against executive members, and engagement in anti-party actions, which were most noticeable during the state’s most recent gubernatorial and presidential elections.
“You are hereby directed to turn over to the party’s divisional secretary all party materials that you may possess. By not abiding by the party constitution’s rules, your activities have impeded the party’s advancement.
Secretary Ademu Yusuf, Assistant Secretary Attai Joseph, Legal Adviser Jacob Atadoga, Auditor John Bala Amedu, Financial Secretary Usman Enema, Treasurer Salisu Shehu, Youth Leader Ayuba Amedu, and Ex-Official Danjuma Muhammad are among those who signed the vote of no confidence at the local and ward levels.
Vice Chairman Salami Muhammad Omede and Women Leader Alima Abuh are among the others.
At least eight chairmen of the ward supported his dismissal.
