Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the leading Igbo sociocultural organisation, has denounced the alleged murder of Ms. Khadijat Yahaya, an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, in Kogi State.

The group argued that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the State should be investigated over the occurrence and that all reasonable efforts should be made to uphold the rule of law.

After an altercation between Social Democratic Party (SDP) and APC supporters in Kotonkarfe on September 29, Khadijat is said to have died.

In the lead-up to the November governorship election, the development has heightened tension in the confluence state.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide’s National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, responded by ordering security authorities to make sure that everyone responsible for the APC member’s murder was brought to justice.

Nobody should be viewed as a holy cow, according to Ohanaeze, who also insisted that the police must show that every life matters in the nation.

“This is necessary to instill confidence in the populace ahead of the polls,” Okwu remarked. The killing of a life for political reasons alone is abhorrent in every way.

If the perpetrators are not held accountable, the preparation for the election will be harmed, and it will encourage others to do even more horrific acts.

In light of this, we order the police to not only apprehend individuals suspected of being involved in the attack that resulted in the innocent woman’s death, but also to make sure that they are rigorously prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“There are claims that the SDP candidate for governor in the State declined the police’s offer to be questioned; if this is true, we want to know if he is above the law.

“The people won’t believe in the system again until justice is done,”

Okwu encouraged the actors to quit viewing their desire as a life-or-death situation, saying that the apex Igbo organisation was closely monitoring political happenings in Kogi State.

“Only one person will hold the office of governor at once; no one should shed blood to gain power.

Politicians should cease encouraging their fans to attack and kill their rivals, regardless of whatever political party they represent, Okwu admonished.
