Pay for 231 employees of the State Civil Service has been suspended by the Kogi State Government.

The State Head of Service, Mrs. Hannah Odiyo, made this declaration in Lokoja when she started issuing State Identity Cards to employees.
Odiyo continued by saying that the affected civil servants disregarded the Kogi State government’s request that their records be updated.
The impacted civil personnel’s salaries have not been paid since November 2023, according to the Head of Service.
According to Odiyo, the exercise was done to further verify the accuracy of the updated staff information.
She went on to say that in May 2022, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) received an attached Bio Data Form from her office, which they were to fill out and send with their federal servants.
She underlined that genuine data was necessary for the government to plan appropriately, particularly during a transitional phase.
“Although the Bio Data exercise exposed numerous shortcomings on the side of the MDAs, 231 employees did not show up for the updated records exercise, resulting in their pay being suspended since November 2023 till this day.
“Where are they right now is the question. Who do they represent? Do they have ghosts? She asked.
Earlier, in a welcoming speech, Mrs. Shuaib Memunat Dede, Permanent Secretary, Research Evaluation and Policy Analysis/Certificate Verification Department (REPA), praised the Head of Civil Service for her initiative in seeing the project through to completion.
