King Charles Hosts Commonwealth Leaders Reception in London
King Charles III welcomes leaders from across the Commonwealth at a reception in London, fostering unity and strengthening ties among member nations ahead of key discussions on shared global challenges.
During a reception at St. James’s Palace in London, King Charles danced with Freddie Tuilagi, the Honorary Consul for Samoa to the UK, as part of celebrations honoring the Commonwealth Diaspora.
“He absolutely loves it and mentioned that he’s eager to learn the dance,” Tuilagi stated.
King Charles and Queen Camilla organized the event before their upcoming trip to Australia and Samoa later this month. Samoa is set to host the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, starting on October 21.

Among the guests at the reception were model and singer Grace Jones, as well as England rugby player Joe Cokanasiga.
Grace Jones expressed her delight at visiting St James Palace for the first time, stating, “It’s beautiful and I’m thrilled to see such a great turnout with everyone so happy.”
Ratu Josateki Cokanasiga expressed that he believes the Commonwealth played a crucial role in his life. Without it, his father might not have joined the army, meaning he wouldn’t have moved to where he is now. This association has provided him—and likely many others—with significant opportunities.
