Kidnapping tops Nigeria’s crime reports under Tinubu

Kidnapping has become the most-reported crime in Nigeria under President Tinubu. Discover the latest statistics and what this means for the country.

During President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure, kidnapping for ransom has been identified as the highest reported criminal case in Nigeria.

On Thursday, StatiSense relayed through its X account that it had obtained 2023 statistics from the Ministry of Police Affairs in Nigeria.

In Nigeria, reports have shown that kidnapping cases exceed those of murder, banditry, terrorism and armed robbery.

Kidnapping crimes are reported at the highest rate in North Central (38.51 percent), North East (42.11 percent), North West (49.71 percent), South East(30.61percent) and South-South region(36.73percent) based on zonal analysis, with exception to the South-West .

The report revealed that the highest occurrence of murder crimes is in the South West, accounting for 29.87 percent.

Despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity in Nigeria, the issue continues to thrive unchecked.

The Ushafa community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was invaded by bandits, resulting in the death of Mr. Felix Chuks and kidnaping his entire family according to OBASANJONEWS.

In Benue State, 20 medical students were kidnapped last week but have since been freed.

Remember that a total of 287 students were abducted from Kuriga, a town situated in Kaduna State’s government secondary school.
