According to Mr. Peter Obi, a former Labour Party, LP presidential candidate, the country’s socioeconomic situation is getting worse as a result of kidnappings using boats and demands for ransom in foreign cash.

He said this while lamenting the kidnapping of Mohamed Fouani, the managing director of the Fouani Company, and the other three Lebanese in Lagos.

In a post on his X handle on Sunday, Obi bemoaned the fact that the nation’s ongoing insecurity was seriously endangering the economy and the survival of the nation.

He also denounced the reported attack on the Gwadabawa local government area in Sokoto State’s Dudun Doki village, where gunmen killed over 10 persons and kidnapped numerous more.

“The use of boats for kidnapping and the demand for foreign currency ransoms add a new and unsightly dimension to the increased insecurity we are fighting, and the socioeconomic ramifications are getting worse.”

Similarly, it was stated that gunmen raided Dudun Doki village in the Gwadabawa local government area of Sokoto State today, which is supposed to be a holy day, murdering over 10 people and kidnapping many more.

“We have to work towards ending these acts of terror and the resulting deaths. I still strongly advocate for increased coordinated efforts to free Mr. Fouani and the other numerous kidnappees securely from the grasp of their captors.

Additionally, I urge the government and security services to take more decisive action against instability in our nation. May the All-Powerful Allah hear our prayers on this day for our country, grant us mercy, and step in to help us.”
