Edo Guber Race Heats Up: Peter Obi Kicks Off Labour Party Campaign in Benin

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, demonstrated his commitment by inaugurating the party’s campaign office in Benin City despite the rain. Barrister Olumide Akpata is the party’s governorship candidate, with Alhaji Yusuf Asamah Kadiri as his running mate.

Prior to the inauguration, Peter Obi and other party leaders embarked on a road walk through major streets in Benin City, receiving cheers from traders at the Uwelu Spare market.

They also paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, seeking his blessings and prayers for a successful election.

During the visit, Obi emphasized the importance of free, fair, and credible elections for the nation’s progress. Olumide Akpata, in his address to the monarch, expressed his respect and sought the Oba’s blessings before commencing his political campaigns.

He believed that the Oba’s prayers would contribute to his mission of rescuing the state from poor governance. The Oba of Benin warmly welcomed Peter Obi, the governorship candidate, and other party leaders, wishing them success in their endeavors.
