Kidnapped Anambra Lawmaker Justice Azuka Found Dead
Tragic news as Justice Azuka, a kidnapped lawmaker from Anambra, has been found dead. His death raises concerns over security challenges in the region.
The body of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, was found in a state of decomposition on the 2nd Niger Bridge.
Azuka’s body was found by a joint security team.
On December 24, 2024, the legislator for Onitsha North Constituency 1 was abducted along Ugwunabankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha.
Following weeks of investigation, security officers from Abuja arrested the suspects late on Wednesday. The detained individuals subsequently guided authorities to where they had disposed of the lawmaker’s remains.
Authorities in Anambra State have reported that details of the incident remain unclear. Nonetheless, command spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga stated that police officers have been dispatched to the scene.
He stated that additional details would be shared with the public at the appropriate time.
This incident is the second time in recent years that a currently serving Anambra lawmaker has been kidnapped and murdered.
In 2022, Okey Okoye, widely recognized as “Okey Di Ok” from Aguata, was kidnapped and subsequently beheaded.
His body was later discovered in the Nnobi area of the South-East state.
