Katsina PDP faces new crisis before congress
A new crisis has emerged within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State in advance of the state congresses that are set to take place in July and August.
The head of the PDP’s State Caretaker Committee is not well-liked by its members, who claim he is preventing them from accessing the necessary forms in order to compete for open posts.
Speaking at a news conference held at the PDP National Secretariat, Mr. Ibrahim Tafashiya, the spokesperson for the party’s disgruntled members, warned that the party was in danger of losing more ground.
Tafashiya claimed that the head of the present Care-Taker Committee had been withholding information from other committee members ever since the National Working Committee, or NWC, of the party established it on April 17, 2024.

“This leadership’s mishandling of the party’s affairs has put the Katsina State PDP in danger.
“A few proactive procedural measures should have been put in place for the exercise to be successful, but nothing has been done since the National Headquarters of the party released the schedule and guidelines for the 2024 Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses,” he said.
Therefore, in order to prevent the situation from getting worse, he urged the party’s national leadership to move quickly to resolve all of the difficulties.
