Given the growing insecurity, veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has asked the Federal Government to dismantle the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, eight NYSC volunteers were recently abducted while travelling along a road in Zamfara State.

Henshaw responded on Twitter on Wednesday, stating that the plan should be abandoned because the security of Corps members was no longer assured.

The performer pleaded on the authorities to “stop endangering the lives of youth with stale ideologies.”

“My time serving in the North was a very memorable experience,” she wrote. It was safe to drive to the airport from Bauchi and fly to Lagos using only my NYSC ID card, which also qualified me for a discount on my ticket.

Since corpers cannot roam freely around this nation, it is time to abandon this plan.

“Stop putting young people’s life in danger with outdated concepts. Security must be addressed completely, not only technically, as a matter of importance.
