Kano: PDP claims that Tinubu financed the attack on Buhari

The attack on President Muhammadu Buhari by some miscreants on Monday during his visit to Kano State has been denounced by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

While criticising the act, the main opposition party called it an orchestrated assault on the president’s person, calling it “outright treasonable” and “a sacrilegious assault on our national sovereignty that must be condemned by all.”

This was said in a statement made by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, on Monday in Abuja.

“Our Party is alarmed that this attack is part of the APC’s presidential candidate’s alleged plot to undermine the presidency, cause confusion, incite violence in the nation, disrupt the conduct of the 2023 general elections, and derail our democracy,” he said, adding that this is because he has realised that he cannot win in a peaceful, free, and fair electoral process.

The PDP asks Nigerians to pay attention to how Governor Abdullahi Ganduje sought to obstruct President Buhari’s movements and even prevented him from going to Kano State.

More troubling is the APC Presidential Campaign’s attempt to degrade and hurt President Buhari while he was attending to business in Kano.

“It should be noted that the APC Presidential Candidate has been displaying open aversion and making inciting statements against President Buhari since Mr. President’s declaration that Nigerians should freely vote for any candidate and party of their choice in the 2023 general elections, in accordance with democratic best practises everywhere in the world,” the statement continued.

Tinubu famously told his followers in London that “political power is not going to be delivered in a restaurant, it is not served a la carte,” according to the PDP.

You must do it at all costs; fight for it, seize it, and run with it. That is what we are doing.

Asiwaju Tinubu recently incited his supporters against President Buhari at the APC’s presidential rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he accused Mr. President of seeking to rig the election.

“It is now evident why the APC Presidential Candidate shamelessly organised a militia code-named “the Jagaban Army,” which is intended to jeopardise our national security, inflict harm on democratic institutions, and sabotage the election process,” Ologunagba added.

“The PDP advises the APC Presidential Candidate to accept that Nigerians are adamant about having free, fair, and credible elections and that they have chosen the PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar as our nation’s next president.

Asiwaju Tinubu should be aware that no threat, no matter how strong, can stop Nigerians from working to save and rebuild their country, a goal that Atiku Abubakar personifies.
